That is the question. In almost every initial event consultation.
OK, let’s talk about bathrooms.Us
Really? Do we have to talk about bathrooms?the Client
And what is the best name for a bathroom?
Is it bathroom?
Or should we call it restroom?
Or comfort station?
Or should we call it water closet?
It’s one of the more difficult variables to gauge when meeting a client. I’m not really sure there’s a right answer.
It’s just one of those icky subjects that is just a part of life. Like it or not, it’s going to be a part of your wedding or next big event.
Let’s face it, people are going to have to poop. And novice or DIY planners a lot of times forget to guarantee there are enough bathrooms for the amount of people attending the event.
There is no exact science to the poop calculating. Different parties are gonna produce different amounts of um, waste. But I will give you some basic guidelines.
At the bare minimum, you will need one toilet for every 100 people. On the more comfortable end, one for every 50. On top of that, you need to take into consideration what’s being served at your party and how much. If you are serving draft beer and will be hosting a large amount of males then expect to need more toilets. If you are hosting and afternoon wedding with only light beverages, then a much smaller quantity of stalls will be needed.
Nobody likes to poop at a party, or especially at a wedding. But the only thing worse than having to go at a wedding is having no place “TO” go at that wedding. Give your guests a nice, comfortable bathroom in case it happens.
